OCR Technical ICT (Single & Double)
Minimum of 5 A*-C grades I grade 5 (new grading structure) at GCSE or equivalent. Grade C or equivalent in your chosen study subject is preferred.
The Cambridge Technical qualification is a two year programme of study with the ability to gain a certificate qualification at the end of the first year. The course comprises five elements, two exam based units and three coursework based units.
Unit 1: Fundamentals of IT (Exam)
Topics covered in this unit: understanding computer hardware, computer software, business IT systems, employability and communication skills in an IT environment, ethical and operational issues and threats to computer systems.
Unit 2: Global Information (Exam)
Topics covered in this unit: understanding where information is held globally and how it is transmitted, styles, classification and the management of global information, the use of global information and the benefits to individuals and organisations, the legal regulatory framework, the principles of information security. Further units studied could include: Social media and digital marketing, product development, computer systems.
Unit 1- Externally assessed exam, 1hr 30 mins worth 80 marks. The exam includes multiple choice and essay style questions.
Unit 2- Externally assessed exam, 1hr 30 mins worth 80 marks. The exam includes essay style questions based around a pre-released exam board topic.
