BTEC Business (Single & Double)
Minimum of 5 A *-C grades I grade 5 (new grading structure) at GCSE or equivalent. Grade C or equivalent in your chosen study subject is preferred.
The course will give students an insight of how businesses operate on a day to day basis. Students will understand what it takes to make a particular business run smoothly.They will explore the background of successful businesses and understand how a company can excel. Students will be given the opportunity to create a marketing campaign as well as a business plan, which will allow them to build on inter-personal skills. They will also look at the financial elements of a business, to understand the activities which can have an influence on the decisions made when a business is expanding or contracting.
Four units of work must be completed for the Extended Certificate in Business which is equivalent to one A Level over two years. This consists of three mandatory units and one optional unit; optional units will be selected by teaching staff. Students will be given the opportunities to explore business, develop marketing campaigns,develop their understanding of personal and business finance as well as develop and plan business events. Units are internally and externally assessed. Assessment for the BTEC qualifications is criterion referenced, based on the achievement of specified learning outcomes. Each unit within the qualification has specified assessment and grading criteria.Learners will get the opportunity to submit a formative and summative assessment of work. A summative unit grade can be awarded at pass, merit or distinction. An examination is also a part of an externally assessed unit.
After completing this course learners can continue in further education, start an apprenticeship or look forward to the world of work.
