This post has come about due the introduction of our brand new KS3 SEND Resource Base (cognition and learning) – a small and caring facility for children who require further support to enable them to access mainstream lessons effectively.

We are really excited to be offering an opportunity for an enthusiastic and student-focused teaching assistant, to support children at KS3 to develop literacy, numeracy and core skills and knowledge in a new facility, led by our qualified in – house lead teacher. Our provision is for children with cognition and learning needs. It is an area where we can support intensively, children where we know they may struggle initially to access a full time, mainstream curriculum effectively.

You will be working alongside SEND staff and a range of professional support staff in our Academy, including working alongside experienced teachers and members of the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team and staff who have experience in this area. You will be able to have a valuable input in helping us to establish the provision within this new resource base. This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to be at the forefront of this new development and to shape the future of our KS3 Resource Base at the Academy. We are a fully inclusive school and enjoy the challenge of meeting the needs of every child in a unique way as can be seen from our progress for our students whatever their starting points.

If you are an energetic, enthusiastic and resilient person with a professional and optimistic outlook, we would be delighted to hear from you. You will ideally have experience of supporting students with cognition and learning needs to excel. You will possess the ability to genuinely inspire our children, ensuring they make good progress and enjoy learning. Specialisms in supporting students to excel at any key stage, but ideally Y6 and/or KS3-4 would be an advantage, but you will also be able to access some excellent CPD opportunities and training as we establish this provision in the new year.

This creates a calm learning environment where teachers can teach and students can learn as was clearly supported by the feedback from Ofsted. We offer a highly supportive environment and are committed to ensuring outstanding teaching, behaviour, progress and achievement. Ofsted noted that staff are proud to work in the academy.
