Entry Requirements

Minimum of 5 9-5 grades / grade 5 (new grading structure) at GCSE or equivalent with English and maths.  Grade 6 or equivalent in your chosen study subject is preferred.

Course Description

The course is made up of a series of units of work. Most are internally assessed and moderated at key points during the course. We do not have traditional written exam, and instead we have a performance task which is prepared and delivered over a number of weeks.

CORE UNITS

We one core unit that is completed over a set time, and is externally assessed:

MUSPRA 387 Major Project 1 – Rehearsal & Performance

This unit requires a set amount of performance time to be prepared and rehearsed. A live recording of the final performance will be made, and sent to the exam board. You will also have to plan and evaluate your final performance, looking at areas such as rehearsal techniques and Health and Safety.

We also have ONE core unit that is completed as coursework, and is internally assessed:

MUSPRA 349 Planning a Career in Music

This unit looks at career paths within the Music Industry. You will need to identify your own strengths and weaknesses and complete and update a CV. You will learn about key job roles and career paths within the industry.

We then select two further units to a value of 90 credits from a selection around these areas of study. These units will be selected after discussion with everyone in the group, and will depend on the interests and strengths of the students who opt for this course.

Assessment

The vast majority of the work in this course is completed over time and marked internally. It is submitted at agreed dates and moderated by the exam board at key points throughout the course.
